Groomers Hosting Puppy Parties
Your business may seem to have a revolving door some days, while other days seem to drag on. It’s the nature of the business. However, there is always a way to bring in new foot traffic and get your name out there. In the process, you can even help some pups find their forever homes.
Depending on your location, you may want to consider adding a Puppy Party to your monthly (or seasonal) calendar. While not exactly a typical day at your office, this regularly held event will become an attraction for the neighborhood!
How to Host a Puppy Party
There is no doubt that humans are happier around animals! Allowing your grooming business to be a location for a local dog adoption, rescue, or fostering care event will bring smiling faces inside your door.
Contact Your Local Options:
There are rescue agencies in every city, and all of them tend to be over-filled, or have a steady flow of dogs to home. They would love a chance to bring a few dogs to your party each month/season. They can set up an entire fenced play area - or areas outside to let visitors play and possibly choose a dog to take home.
Partner with a Pet Bakery:
Allow a bakery to set up samples and provide treats for sale throughout the party.
Hold a Raffle:
Giveaway grooming packages throughout the party.
Keep it Simple:
Don’t overthink it all. It does not have to be an extravagant event. Just make sure that your party area is prepared and safe for dogs. You’ll want poop bags and easily accessible hoses for water bowls.
Invite More Puppies:
You want this to become the dog social event of the month. Dogs can socialize, play while supervised, and pick out a new treat. Email your current clients and hang fliers anywhere you have access. Over time, word of mouth will be easier, but to start, you’ll need to staple a few papers around town.
Create a Hashtag:
If you don’t already have a hashtag, you need one, but you’ll need a second for your puppy parties. You want everyone there tagging you, sharing, and hash tagging the event.
Once the event has been planned, spruce up you grooming shop to make it looks like new. You want everyone to come inside, leave their email, and become acquainted with your business.
